The main image I used for this blog piece represents everything that Fred Ritchin uses as his mantra for photography. The figure in the distance looks at the building on one point of view. It would be impossible for them to look otherwise and this is the typical point from most press photographers. when covering normal shoots. Obviously this is not the case when conflict is concerned or safty issues for other reasons, however, when you look at regular press calls and compare the results in different newspapers, the results are very similar.
Fred has a very interesting podcast on YouTube which discusses his own mantra regarding what his photography comes from.
He is quoted as saying “The purpose of photography is not to make more images. It’s not to be celebrated as the greatest photographer. It’s not to be picked as the picture of the year. The ethics of it is that you’re a citizen of the world, and you’re using photography to make the world a better place.”
I feel that this is a fascinating point of view from my own photography as I tend to go to a different point of view. When I see a group of photographers all in the one place I'm inclined to search for another vantage point.
