Published by Oxford University Press, this introduction to visual culture by Professors Marita Sturken and Lisa Cartwright explores theories on how we understand visual media.
Many books of this nature delve into the world of digital media regarding their source e.g. Facebook or Instagram. This also analyses how we are represented in may other ways. For example how we are seen sexually, ethnically and the methodologies associated, semiotics or feminism.
As a student of visual arts this book has provided me with another viewpoint of visual culture and a reference guide that I will use throughout the remainder of my studies.
